Recognizing a familiar stress response does not always make it easier to change. German NeuroSomatic coach and yoga teacher Sarah Mack takes that gap between insight and bodily experience as the starting point for her first book, Vom Überleben zum Leben (From Surviving to Living), published by BoD – Books on Demand on October 1, 2026.
The German-language guide addresses people who understand their recurring patterns intellectually but still feel caught in reactions associated with stress or difficult experiences. Mack’s approach places body awareness and practical exercises alongside explanations of the nervous system. The book is not presented as an English-language edition, and its discussion of spiritual traditions should be understood as part of the author’s integrative perspective rather than established medical evidence.
Across 164 pages, Mack introduces concepts including the autonomic nervous system, the window of tolerance, neuroception and polyvagal theory. She then places these ideas in conversation with yoga philosophy and chakra teachings. That combination is a distinctive feature of the book, although scientific models of stress regulation and spiritual systems of energy are not interchangeable forms of evidence.
Readers are offered 22 illustrated body-based exercises drawn from Mack’s NeuroSomatic coaching and yoga work, together with five guided meditations. A four-week program provides a suggested way to organize the practices, while a separate plan addresses periods that feel especially intense. Practical examples accompany the explanatory sections.
Rather than treating a new insight as the finish line, the book encourages readers to notice how reactions unfold physically and to explore practices that may support a greater sense of steadiness. The publisher describes the work as trauma-sensitive, but the available book description does not establish clinical outcomes for its exercises. People dealing with significant trauma symptoms may need individualized professional care beyond a self-help guide.
Mack also works as a hypnosis coach and describes her approach as shaped by personal experiences of anxiety, chronic stress, pain and major life crises. Her professional interests span embodiment, meditation, trauma research and spiritual awareness. The book draws on those interests without requiring readers to adopt every explanatory tradition it discusses.
The German subtitle refers to returning to ease, safety and a sense of self through nervous-system regulation. That promise is best read as the direction of Mack’s work, not a guaranteed result. What readers can verify is the book’s structure: a set of exercises and meditations, an introductory explanation of key concepts and a defined four-week practice sequence.
With this first publication, Mack has put her body-oriented approach into a format readers can work through at their own pace, in the original German.
