Stefan Galbavi Brings His Self-Initiation Approach to Reiki Into English

Stefan Galbavi's new English edition of New Reiki: Back to the Source explores energy awareness, spiritual perception and self-initiation outside fixed teaching structures.

Austrian spirituality author Stefan Galbavi has published an English-language edition of New Reiki: Back to the Source, a 204-page book examining energy awareness and the idea of self-initiation outside conventional systems of Reiki instruction. Released on October 9, 2026, the volume follows an earlier German-language edition and introduces his approach to a wider readership.

Galbavi has explored Reiki for more than two decades. His writing is concerned less with teaching a standardized sequence of techniques than with questioning what people believe they need before they can explore spiritual perception. The new English volume is titled Fundamentals and Self-Initiation, making that question central to the publication.

Reconsidering the role of initiation

In many established Reiki teaching systems, initiation is associated with a teacher and a defined progression through levels or symbols. Galbavi approaches those conventions as subjects for reflection. His book asks whether a person’s sense of connection to energy must depend on external permission, formal stages or prescribed signs.

Rather than replacing one set of rules with another, he describes self-initiation as an opportunity to examine personal awareness. The book considers intention, resonance, perception and the meanings people attach to experiences they describe as energetic. These ideas are presented within a spiritual framework, not as findings that demonstrate the existence or therapeutic effects of a particular energy field.

A personal inquiry instead of a fixed curriculum

The volume is aimed both at readers encountering Reiki for the first time and at practitioners who have begun to question familiar teaching structures. Its emphasis is on observation and direct experience rather than obtaining another credential or completing a sequence of compulsory practices.

Galbavi’s broader writing also explores self-deception, intuition and the influence of expectations on perception. Those interests give context to the new book’s central question: how can someone distinguish a genuinely noticed experience from a belief they have inherited or want to confirm?

His author platform includes essays on subjects such as the pressure to maintain harmony, procrastination disguised as preparation and the way algorithms shape personal taste. Although these topics differ from Reiki, they share an interest in noticing habits of interpretation before accepting them as truth.

An English edition for a wider discussion

The new publication extends material previously available in German into English. Its significance is therefore not the invention of an entirely new Reiki system, but the wider availability of Galbavi’s particular critique of spiritual authority and formal initiation.

The book explicitly avoids promising healing outcomes and is not positioned as a substitute for medical or therapeutic care. For energy practitioners and spiritual educators, it offers a perspective on how much structure is useful in teaching and when structure may become an obstacle to personal inquiry.
