PME Somatic Training Opens Enrollment for Hybrid Professional Certification in Somatic Movement Therapy

The PME Somatic Training is accepting applications for its next hybrid certification program, offering a professional pathway in somatic movement therapy, embodiment, and body-oriented coaching through a combination of online learning and experiential practice.

A professional training program rooted in somatic movement, embodiment, and body-oriented therapeutic practice is welcoming new participants from around the world through a flexible hybrid learning format.

The PME Somatic Training, developed by Austrian somatic therapist Dieter Rehberg, is a comprehensive 500-hour certification designed for professionals working with people as well as individuals seeking a deeper understanding of the relationship between body, mind, and personal transformation. The next training group begins in October 2026 and allows participants to attend from virtually anywhere through a combination of online and hybrid learning.

Rather than focusing primarily on cognitive understanding, the program places direct bodily experience at the center of the learning process. Participants explore movement, touch, guided body awareness, reflection, and what the training describes as “Somatic Dialogue”—a structured, compassionate approach intended to support self-regulation, emotional integration, and personal growth.

The curriculum is based on the Physio-Mental Development (PME) method, an approach developed over more than three decades by Rehberg through the integration of somatic movement, dance, bodywork, counselling, and Buddhist psychology. According to the academy, the method is designed to help individuals improve physical wellbeing, reduce emotional suffering, develop greater body awareness, and cultivate sustainable patterns of self-regulation.

Structured over three years, the training is divided into Basic and Advanced levels, covering disciplines including Somatic Movement, Anatomical Embodiment, Somatic Coaching, Healing Dance, Somatic Touch, movement education, ethics, and professional practice. Graduates may pursue certification as Somatic Movement Therapists and Educators or as Somatic Practitioners, depending on their chosen professional pathway and eligibility.

According to the organisers, the program is intended for coaches, therapists, bodyworkers, movement educators, yoga teachers, dancers, martial artists, and other professionals wishing to expand their work through an embodied, client-centred approach. The modular structure also enables participants to begin the training at different entry points while receiving individual support through small-group learning.

In addition to professional certification, the PME Somatic Training emphasises participants’ own embodied development, encouraging them to cultivate a sustainable personal practice alongside practical therapeutic skills. By combining experiential learning with theoretical study, the academy aims to prepare graduates to support both their own wellbeing and the growth of others through somatic practice.
