The Practice Space Opens Second Portland Location in Former Elk Rock Yoga Studio

Portland-based The Practice Space has opened a second studio in the former Elk Rock Yoga location, retaining several teachers and parts of the existing class schedule.

Portland-based mindful movement business The Practice Space has opened a second location in the city’s Woodstock neighborhood, taking over the former Elk Rock Yoga studio.

The new location opened on September 1 and gives The Practice Space a second physical studio alongside its existing Belmont space. As part of the transition, many of Elk Rock Yoga’s teachers are continuing at the Woodstock location, while parts of the previous class schedule have also been retained.

A second neighborhood studio

The Practice Space describes itself as a mindful movement studio focused on regular practice rather than short-term fitness programs.

Its expansion into Woodstock allows the business to reach a second part of Portland while stepping into a space that already has an established yoga community.

Students from Elk Rock Yoga are also able to transfer certain unused class credits into the new studio, helping ease the shift between the two businesses.

The Woodstock location is now operating separately

The new studio is running under The Practice Space name with its own schedule and membership structure.

A dedicated Woodstock membership is priced at $99 per month for unlimited classes at that location. During September, the studio is also offering $11 drop-in classes as part of the opening period.

The Practice Space has said that many teachers already familiar to Elk Rock students will remain part of the schedule, while the new location will gradually develop under The Practice Space brand.

Building on an existing teaching community

The move is more than a simple studio opening because The Practice Space has chosen to preserve parts of the teaching community already connected to the location.

Rather than replacing the former studio’s roster entirely, the business is incorporating several existing teachers into its own schedule. That gives regular students a degree of familiarity while introducing a new ownership structure, membership model and studio identity.

The Woodstock location is now fully operating under The Practice Space name, with classes continuing throughout the week.

For The Practice Space, the expansion marks a clear step beyond its original Belmont studio while keeping the business rooted in Portland’s neighborhood yoga community.
