Sixtwo Pilates & Yoga is preparing to open a new Reformer Pilates studio in Kew East, Melbourne, in late October 2026. The location will become the brand’s third studio, joining Doncaster East and Surrey Hills, and will focus specifically on small-group Reformer classes rather than the broader mix of mat Pilates, hot yoga and other formats offered elsewhere in the network.
The Kew East studio is being developed as a purpose-built boutique space with a light-filled interior, premium Reformers and a class structure designed to remain accessible to beginners as well as more experienced clients. Sessions will run for 50 minutes, with instructors guiding participants through a structured Reformer format rather than an open-gym model.
A more focused studio concept
While Sixtwo’s existing Doncaster East and Surrey Hills locations combine Reformer Pilates with additional mat-based classes, the Kew East site will operate as a dedicated Reformer studio. The narrower format gives the new location a more specific identity within the wider business while allowing members to use Sixtwo’s app for booking, timetable management and studio communication.
The studio is also being positioned around smaller class sizes and beginner-friendly access. Sixtwo says the room layout has been designed with more space between machines, creating a less crowded training environment and giving instructors more room to move between participants during class.
For an independent movement business, the expansion shows one way a local studio network can grow without reproducing the same model at every address. Instead of creating another full-service yoga and Pilates site, Sixtwo is using Kew East to concentrate on the part of its existing offering that can stand alone as a dedicated concept.
Building a third neighbourhood location
The opening will take Sixtwo to three Melbourne studios. Doncaster East currently operates Reformer Pilates alongside heated mat Pilates, hot yoga, stretching and meditation, while Surrey Hills offers a similar multi-modality format. Kew East will add a more streamlined Reformer-only option for clients in the eastern suburbs.
The company has begun building a waitlist for the opening and is preparing a class timetable ahead of the late October launch. The exact opening date remains subject to the completion of the new studio.
