Movements Expands Amsterdam Hot Yoga and Pilates Network With Jordaan Studio

Movements has opened a new Jordaan studio in Amsterdam, adding heated yoga, Pilates, barre, strength and restorative formats to its growing studio network.

Amsterdam-based Movements has opened a new Hot Studio in the Jordaan, extending its yoga and Pilates network to Korte Prinsengracht. The location joins existing studios at Vondelpark, Amsterdam City and Haarlem and introduces several class formats developed specifically for the new space.

The Jordaan studio continues the company’s established focus on heated movement, with Hot Yoga and Hot Pilates forming the foundation of the timetable. The space uses bamboo flooring, natural light and an open layout, maintaining the restrained design approach that Movements uses across its studios while adapting the program to a neighborhood location.

New formats broaden the movement mix

Among the additions is Hot Pilates Barre, a class that combines Pilates with ballet-inspired barre movements in a room heated to approximately 32 degrees Celsius. The session uses controlled, high-repetition movement with an emphasis on core, glute, leg and arm strength. Movements presents it as a low-impact format that still carries the physical intensity associated with heated training.

The Jordaan program is also introducing Hot Sculpt and Strength, which brings functional strength work into the heated-studio environment, alongside a slower Hot Restorative Stretch format built around mobility, Pilates influences and deeper stretching. Together, the classes give the location a broader range than a conventional hot-yoga timetable.

The studio opened at the end of August and held its public opening weekend on September 5 and 6. Its arrival gives Movements four established Hot Studio locations, while the company is also developing its LABzuid concept inside Sport Medisch Centrum with a stronger focus on Pilates equipment and fitness science.

A studio model moving beyond one discipline

For smaller movement businesses, the Jordaan opening is a useful example of how a specialist identity can expand without becoming a general-purpose gym. Heat remains the connecting element, but the programming now crosses yoga, mat Pilates, barre, functional strength and restorative work.

That approach allows a studio to serve people looking for different training intensities while retaining a recognizable practice environment. It also reflects the continued blurring of boundaries between boutique yoga, Pilates and strength concepts, particularly in urban studios where clients increasingly move between modalities rather than identifying with only one.
